Being 'Goofy'

August 26, 2019 Guest User
There's power in looking silly and not caring that you do.jpg

When was the last time you danced to a fun song in the middle of the day? Or when you went mini-golfing with your girlfriends as a funny date!

We all get so caught up in being an adult, always having everything together all the time and ticking off our to-do lists, nailing the school run and developing excellent strategies for work.

However all of that gets dull, monotonous and uninspiring! You need to inject some sparkle in your life. Joy is a very underestimated aspect of our lives. Singing to your favourite song as you prepare for your day, having a little boogie with your children in a supermarket aisle and even just wearing a funky shirt to work. All of these things break us out of this strict ‘Adult’ mood that we create a cultivate in our days.

Recently one of our friends attended an immersive cinema experience where she and her partner had to dress up in their 1940s best and were involved in an acted plot to acquire transit papers out of Casablanca. Surrounded by actors who wouldn’t break character and confronted with interesting conversations and situations that took them completely out of their normal lives. One thing that it really reminded them of is playing make believe as children.

Being child-like and goofy is something we don’t often have time or energy to do. But after the experience our friend felt invigorated and inspired! So here is a challenge for you, this week try something to feed your inner child or inner ‘goof’. Sing ABBA in rush hour, host a dance off in your kitchen as you make dinner and even organise a fun Karaoke party with your friends at home.

All of these things work to encourage us out of our shells, to expand our day and energy into the realms of fun for funs sake.

Have a beautiful week.

Much Love,

H+K
